Courtney was just finishing grad school and was about to turn 30 the same week. Dustin said he planned a special surprise for her birthday/graduation celebration. She had no idea what they were doing or where they were going.
They arrived in Laguna Beach and Courtney could not have been more excited!
After brunch with their friend Victor; Dustin and Courtney went to the hotel. After spending the day lounging they went to the beach.
Dustin found a quiet spot and they were enjoying the sunset.
Courtney said, "This is my favorite day." Dustin was REALLY quiet for awhile. He then said he had a surprise and pulled out a box. Courtney thought it was earrings and was excited because she had lost her favorite pair.
Then he got down on one knee.
She was in complete shock and said, "No, no way is this happening."
Dustin, laughing, opened the box to show the ring and said, "Well, ya it kind of is."
She said, "No." (again!)-super shocked & laughing!
He said, "So, will you marry me?"
She finally said "YES!"
After texting and calling friends and family Dustin wanted to take her to a fancy restaurant to celebrate. Knowing Courtney, she wanted to get cheeseburgers at In & Out Burger, so that's what they did. :)
Dustin and Courtney met in Scottsdale, Arizona April of 2012. Dustin saw Courtney and it was love at first sight! HA! Just kidding, Dustin saw Courtney and thought she looked lost... because she was.
Courtney went out (by herself) to make some new friends and heard about "Old Town", a cluster of clubs and bars.
Dustin was out with his friend Heath partying at a club called Smashboxx.
Long story short, Dustin saw Courtney standing by herself and thought she was a "hottie" and that she looked lost. He approached her and asked if she needed help getting into Smashboxx. She was very skeptical of him and made sure he knew she was carrying mace. :)
They ended up talking all night. Courtney told Dustin that she thought they would be best friends forever and Dustin thought she was weird. Still, they exchanged numbers and became friends.
After several months of hanging out and trying to "just be friends" they caved and made it official in July of 2012.
Dustin is my best friend. I guess you could say I was right about him from the very beginning since I called it the night we met! I never thought I could love someone the way I love him, nor did I think someone could love me the way he does. I knew there was a special connection between us the night we met and I still feel that same connection today. He gets me and all of my quirks and I love that about him.
When I met Courtney, marriage was the furthest thing from my mind. Since the day we met our friendship has grown into a strong love for one another. Whether we are on the couch, on vacation, or at the grocery store, we enjoy each others company and laugh together like its the first night we met.
We plan to leave Scottsdale in a caravan of vehicles Thursday, October 5th at 7 a.m.
We will leave Mexico Monday, October 9th at 8 a.m. and should return to Scottsdale no later than 2 p.m. depending on traffic at the border.
If you are flying in, you will fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and then drive to Mexico. When selecting flight times please be aware of the date/time the group will depart AZ and return to AZ. If you need to fly back Monday, schedule a flight after 3 just to be safe. There are no flights into Puerto Penasco.
We do not reccommend anyone driving alone as there is no cell service or GPS in certain areas. If these travel dates/times do not work for you, please contact us individually. We have a shuttle van service available for people who will not have their own vehicle or need to arrive and depart at different times.
Need to rent a car?
Check with us first, we may be able to help you carpool. If not, HERTZ allows rental cars into Mexico.
Mexico Insurance: All vehicles crossing the border will need to purchase Mexico Auto Insurance for the weekend. We stop in Ajo, AZ and purchase insurance each time. It usually costs around $40-$60 per vehicle.
Flying in Wednesday and need a place to stay?
Check with us first, we may have room. Otherwise try searching for hotels in or near our zipcode: 85255.
Passport Information: Children 15 years or younger do not need a passport, they do need their birth certificate. Everyone else needs either a passport or passport card to re-enter the United States.
Welcome to our wedsite! We created this space as a special way for friends and family to participate and celebrate with us - anytime, from anywhere.
While you are here, please RSVP and sign our guestbook!
We knew having a destination wedding meant not everyone would be able to attend. Please understand that there are no hard feelings for not attending. Cheers us from afar to celebrate with us in spirit!
